SMP Scar Camouflage Marlow — FUE and FUT Donor Scar Treatment

Scalp micropigmentation conceals surgical scars from hair transplant procedures and traumatic scalp injuries. FUT linear donor scars, FUE extraction scatter patterns, and burn or accident scarring are all treatable using modified technique protocols designed for fibrous tissue pigment uptake.

FUT Linear Scar Camouflage

FUT (strip harvest) leaves a linear scar 25–35 cm in length across the occipital region. SMP camouflage deposits pigment inside the scar tissue and in the surrounding 2–3 mm border to optically dissolve the contrast boundary. Expected result: 70–90% visual reduction over 2–3 sessions.

FUE Scatter Pattern Camouflage

FUE extraction creates 1,000–4,000 individual circular punch sites (0.8–1.2 mm diameter) across the occipital and parietal donor zones. SMP fills these sites with colour-matched deposits, visually dissolving the circular contrast pattern. Treatment requires 2–3 sessions and achieves 80–90% visual reduction of punch-site visibility.

Minimum Wait Time After Transplant

A minimum of 12 months post-FUT or FUE surgery before SMP scar camouflage is the standard recommendation. This ensures the scar has fully matured and stabilised. Some practitioners require 18 months. Confirm with your Marlow practitioner during consultation.

Complete 100% concealment is not a realistic expectation. A skilled practitioner achieves 70–90% visual reduction — sufficient that a Grade 1–2 clipper cut no longer reveals an obvious scar. Under very close inspection in strong directional lighting, faint evidence of the scar boundary may remain.
Scar tissue holds pigment differently from normal scalp skin. Some clients find scar SMP fades slightly faster (3–4 years) than standard scalp SMP (4–6 years). Annual assessment is recommended from Year 3 onward.
